Post: Turkana County Assembly Mourns Nanam Ward MCA

Turkana: The Turkana County Assembly is mourning the death of Deputy Speaker and Member of County Assembly (MCA) for Nanam Ward, Ekuwam Philip Lomuria. Assembly Speaker Charles Lokiyoto confirmed that Ekuwam passed away on Wednesday, June 11, while receiving treatment.

According to Kenya News Agency, Ekuwam began his political career as a councillor and was later elected as MCA in both the 2013 and 2017 general elections, during which he served as Deputy Speaker. He successfully reclaimed his seat in the 2022 general elections. In a statement, Speaker Lokiyoto expressed that Hon. Ekuwam was not only a leader but also a mentor, unifier, and a champion of progress, whose legacy of selfless service will continue to inspire.

Governor Jeremiah Lomorukai also eulogised the late MCA, describing him as a seasoned and dedicated leader who devoted his life to serving the public. The Governor noted that Ekuwam's leadership, humility, and tireless service to his community earned him respect across Turkana.
