Bungoma County has received Sh59 million worth of medical equipment and supplies from USAID's Dumisha Afya Initiative.According to USAD Dumisha Afya Initiative team led by chief of the party Dr. Everline Ashiono while handing over the donation to Bungoma County Referral Hospital yesterday September 18 2024 said that there aim was to enhancing healthcare services in the region.Moreover, Dr. Ashono reaffirmed their commitment to enhance the health care system, stating that the donation aims to enhance service delivery within the county's healthcare facilities.'We plan to continue enhancing the capacity of healthcare workers, particularly in governance,' she notedCarolyne Makali, the Health and Sanitation County Executive Committee Member, led the reception of the donation.Makali highlighted the importance of the equipment in digitizing healthcare facilities, reducing health professionals' workload, and enhancing service delivery.On the other hand, the CECM health has stated that the resources will significantly improve the quality of care provided to clients.'The medical supplies and equipment are set to be distributed across various health facilities in the county.' She noted Thus, Makali expressed his gratitude to USAID Dumisha for the generous donation.Furthermore, the speaker emphasized that this would decrease the need for patients to travel long distances for specialized care.Dr. Magrina Mayama, Bungoma County Chief Officer of Health and Sanitation, praised the partnership for its human resources support, resulting in over 200 healthcare workers employed across the county.Dr.Mayama said that they are pleased to partner with USAID Dumisha Afya Initiative to ensure clients receive quality healthcare through this donation.'The donation comprised of 726 items including Samsung Galaxy tablets, HP Pro Books, desktop computers, and adult and pediatric weighing scales.'
