Post: Vihiga County Joins Anti-Doping Campaign

Vihiga: The County Government of Vihiga, through the Department of Gender, Culture, Youth, Sports, and Social Services, in collaboration with the Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya (ADAK), conducted a capacity-building workshop on anti-doping to promote clean sports across the county.

According to Kenya News Agency, the comprehensive training session was tailored to enhance awareness and strengthen the commitment to clean and fair play. It brought together over 100 participants, including team coaches, referees, instructors, physiotherapists, trainers, and other key stakeholders in the sports sector. Participants were educated on vital topics, including doping control procedures, the list of prohibited substances, health and ethical effects of doping on athletes, and the roles and responsibilities of athlete support personnel.

While addressing attendees, County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Sports, Anne Desma, emphasized the importance of upholding integrity in sports. She urged ADAK to extend similar sensitization programs to schools, noting the increasing concern over drug and substance abuse among youth.

Also present were Director of Youth Affairs and Sports Bongo Ngoseywi, Assistant Directors Greg Jevunya (Sports) and Phelix Munyora (Youth Affairs), as well as Sub-County Sports Officers, who reaffirmed the County’s commitment to developing a drug-free sporting environment.
