Post: Wamatangi distributes farm inputs to Ikinu Ward farmers.

Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi took his socio-economic empowerment programme to the Kiaibabu area in Ikinu Ward, Githunguri Sub-County today, where he distributed farm inputs to farmers.Through the programme, he distributed certified maize seeds and fertilizer to over 4,000 local farmers, with each receiving a 2kg bag of certified maize seeds and a 10kg bag of fertilizer.Additionally, bursary cheques were issued to beneficiaries of the scholarship programme in the ward, with each student receiving between Sh5,000 and Sh10,000 for school fees.Speaking during the event, Wamatangi said students from single-parent families will be awarded Sh10,000 if they are in boarding schools, while orphans and those from needy families will receive a fully funded scholarship from secondary school through university, he emphasized.On infrastructure, residents from the Ward have long decried the poor state of roads in the area but the governor promised to provide the area MCA (Cedric Gacunga) with infrastructural mach inery and financial assistance to improve the roads.The Governor further promised to install solar street lamps in Ikinu Town after the road construction is completed, to boost security in the ward.Currently, the Kiambu County Government is looking for a piece of land to purchase, on which to build a modern market for the residents and once the plans are complete, the county government plans to build two markets in the ward, one in Ikinu Town and the other in Karia area.Speaking about his appearance before the Senate several days ago, Wamatangi said that the Senate commended his administration for the many developments it has brought to the county.'The Senate applauded and praised my administration after an assessment proved that Kiambu County has achieved significant milestones in development since my administration took over about 18 months ago,' he said.'The hospitals in Karia and Kiaibabu are being upgraded and will soon be completed. Additionally, in collaboration with the county government, al l the roads in the area will be repaired and maintained,' Joseph Muhinja, Githunguri MCA and the chairman of the Health Committee said at the event.Present were County Assembly Speaker Wakili Charles Thiongo and a host of MCAs led by the area MCA Cedric Gacunga.Source: Kenya News Agency
