West Region: Pop called to collaborate with security, health officials

The West Region has been relatively calm since the start of the year 2023 despite some cases of insecurity recorded, administrative officials noted in a meeting.

Development projects are progressively being executed, with the Babadjou Matazem stretch being realized at 53%, and projects under the public investment budget done at 13%.

This information was disclosed during the administrative and security coordination meeting of the West Region that rounded up on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at the premises of the Bafoussam City Council. The meeting had in attendance all 8 Divisional Officers making up the West Region and was presided over by the West Regional Governor AWA FONKA Augustine.

A negative aspect registered since the start of the year is the recurrent rate of road accidents. Statistics show that 82 persons have lost their lives through road accidents while 18 others were assassinated.

Governor Fonka reminded the population, of the importance of collaborating with security forces.

Health-wise, the cholera outbreak that is currently threatening the nation, is being mastered by health authorities in the region, experts said.

By the end of May 2023, at least 246 people have been affected by the cholera outbreak with 9 deaths recorded.

Inhabitants have been called upon to signal any symptom to competent authorities for fast precaution and treatment.
