Investigation has been opened by the police in Yaoundé to determine the actual cause of the death of three children of the same family in Monatéle – Centre region on Tuesday September 17, 2024.
The children died in their sleep. It is suspected they were suffocated to death by smoke from a generator.
‘I locked the children in the house while they were watching television and went to roast fish at my business place on Monday night till early Tuesday. My husband was with me. The children were all fine.’ Explained Marie Anne Kouna , mother of the deceased children.
Returned from her business place, Marie Anne discovered that her five children were not in good state. She rushed them to the Monatele District hospital for urgent medical care. Unfortunately, three of them had given up the ghost.
‘I reached home and discovered that there was no light. I went to checked how they were doing. Their father put on the generator and in a short while we slept off. I later got up and saw my children in an abnormal state.
That’s when i rushed to my neighbor disturbed and he helped transport the children to the hospital. They were still alive. Upon arriving the hospital, they told us that three of them were already dead.’ Marie Anne narrated.
According to the medical doctor, the examination result shows they inhaled carbon monoxide emitted by the generator kept in their room by their parents.
Mother of the deceased children rather thinks there is a mysterious hand in the demise of her three children.
In the meantime, parents of the children have been auditioned by he police investigating the case.
