Tunis hosts workshop on National Healthy Food Strategy for Children aged 0 to 18

Tunis: The main axes of the National Healthy Food Strategy for Children aged 0 to 18 were the focus of a workshop organized, Tuesday, by the Basic Healthcare Directorate in collaboration with the UNICEF office in Tunisia.

According to a statemen from the Health Ministry, this workshop, which was attended by the Director General of Health and the heads of the intervening structures, such as the Directorate of Basic Healthcare, the Ministry of Family, Women, children and the elderly, as well as UNICEF, was an opportunity to validate the main measures and interventions as well as define roles and responsibilities.

According to the same source, this national strategy is part of the 2023-2030 action plan of the Health Ministry, which seeks to improve healthy diet indicators for this age group and rationalize appropriate eating behaviors of families, parents and children.

It should be recalled that Tunisia is committed to combating malnutrition and food insecurity within the framework of the 1991 Convention on t
he Rights of the Child, which gives governments a legal obligation to protect and guarantee the right to food and nutrition for all children.
