Bomet County Assembly Completes Vetting Process for Key Public Appointments

Bomet: The Bomet County Assembly concluded the vetting process of nominees for various appointive positions in the county public service.According to Kenya News Agency, the nominees vetted were individuals appointed to the positions of County Chief Officer, members of the selection panel for the recruitment of Members and Secretary/Chief Executive Officer of the County Public Service Board, and a member of the County Rural and Urban Affordable Housing Committee.The nominees for the position of County Chief Officers (CO) included former Silibwet Township Ward Representative Haron Kirui, nominated for the position of CO of Labour and Public Service. Mr. Simon Chirchir was vetted for the CO of Roads, Transport and Public Works, while Mr. Mutai Jonah Kipng'etich was the nominee for CO of Finance and Economic Planning.Five nominees were vetted for the selection panel responsible for recruiting Members and the secretary/CEO of the County Public Service Board. These were Alice Chepkemoi Kirui and Patricia Chep kirui Lasoi, representing Private/Business Organizations, Ms. Jesca Chepkirui from the Law Society of Kenya, Mr. Charles Kiprotich Ng'eno, KUPPET Branch Secretary, and CPA Reuben Kipchirchir from the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya.Ms. Sarah C. Koskei was vetted as a nominee for appointment as a member of the Bomet County Rural and Urban Affordable Housing Committee.The vetting process followed appointments made by His Excellency the Governor Hillary Barchok, which were submitted to the County Assembly for approval. This procedure aligns with the provisions of Section 58A of the County Governments Act, 2012 and Section 7 of the Public Appointments (County Assemblies Approval) Act No. 5 of 2017 in the Constitution of Kenya 2010.The vetted nominees now await approval or disapproval by the respective vetting committees, which will submit a report to the County Assembly regarding their suitability for the positions.
