Post: Burkina Faso Launches Motorized Brigade to Enhance Urban Security

Ouagadougou: The Director General of the National Police, Inspector General of Police Thierry Dofizouho Tuina, led the official launch of the Motorized Brigade for Security and Intervention (BMSI) in Ouagadougou. The event was attended by various administrative, customary, religious, and military authorities, marking a significant step in strengthening urban security.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the BMSI operates under the leadership of the Anti-Crime Brigade (BAC) and is tasked with multiple missions aimed at curbing urban insecurity. These include conducting patrols to deter criminal activities, providing security escorts for convoys and high-ranking officials, and securing state institutions along with strategic installations. Additionally, the brigade will collect operational intelligence, support other Defence and Security Forces (FDS), combat road misconduct, and perform targeted checks at key intersections and roads.

Inspector General Tuina expressed his approval of this initiative, highlighting its role as a strategic response to urban crime, particularly offenses committed by individuals on two-wheeled vehicles. This new brigade aims to enable the National Police to monitor and apprehend offenders swiftly, addressing issues of road incivility more effectively.

He also called upon the community to actively participate in co-producing security by sharing valuable information and engaging more in the overall security framework.
