Post: Burkina’s MARAH to Close Non-Compliant Establishments in Animal Feed and Milk Sectors

Ouagadougou: The General Directorate of Veterinary Services (DGSV), operating under the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Resources and Fisheries (MARAH), has initiated a significant crackdown on non-compliant establishments within the animal feed and milk sectors. Following thorough inspections in the Kadiogo region, DGSV has announced the impending closure of several establishments that failed to meet regulatory standards, as confirmed by Captain Aboubacar Nacro, the Director General of Veterinary Services.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Captain Aboubacar Nacro revealed that a total of 660 provisional authorization applications were evaluated, with 570 pertaining to animal feed and 90 related to dairy products. Establishments involved in the production, marketing, or importation of livestock feed, as well as those processing dairy products, were required to register by July 28, 2025, to ensure compliance with the set regulations.

The announcement was made during a press conference held in Ouagadougou, where Captain Nacro highlighted the necessity of this regulatory measure. The initiative aims to ensure the safety and quality of animal feed and dairy products in the region, safeguarding both animal health and consumer interests. Prior to the commencement of this operation, 361 establishments had already been scrutinized, setting a precedent for further regulatory enforcement in the sector.
