Post: Ex-GSU Coach Walks 440km to Complete Church

Nairobi: Former General Service Unit (GSU) volleyball head coach Moses Epoloto has embarked on a 440-kilometre walk to raise funds for the completion of his rural church in the Katakwa Diocese of the Anglican Church of Kenya. The church, Moru ACK, was founded by his late father, Rev. Fredrick Opeto Epoloto.

According to Kenya News Agency, Epoloto, who was flagged off on October 7 at the All-Saints Cathedral in Nairobi by the Provost, aims to raise Sh10 million to complete the project. He walks at least 40 kilometres per day as part of his faith-driven mission. Until his retirement a few years ago, Epoloto led the GSU volleyball team to six national titles out of the 12 the paramilitary unit has won. In 2018, he served as technical director when GSU clinched its 12th national title and later coached Trailblazers Volleyball Club.

Epoloto said his passion for the initiative stems from his upbringing as a staunch Christian and his father's guidance that life's ultimate goal is to serve God. 'God protected me throughout my career in the security service. The least I can do is dedicate my energy to serving Him,' he said.

The Western Anglican dioceses have joined in prayer for Epoloto's noble cause and for journey mercies. Mumias Anglican Provost Rev. Kere Gusto praised the initiative, calling it an act of faith and courage, and urged well-wishers to support the mission. Retired Rev. Canon Zack Oriama also commended Epoloto for honoring his father's legacy by ensuring the completion of the church he started before his death.
