Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is currently leading thousands of mourners in the burial of the late Mwalimu Julius Kano Ndumbi at Gichugu in Kirinyaga County.The late Ndumbi was a former principal of Kianyaga High School between 1978 to 1988, where the Deputy President is alumnae.He headed notable schools, among them Chuka High School, Kangaru School-Embu, Muranga High School, and Kiarithia-ini High School in Mathira.Gachagua, in his last visit to Kianyaga High School, described Ndumbi as a disciplinarian who moulded him in the right direction.On May 26, 2023, the government appointed Mwalimu Ndumbi to the Board of the National Irrigation Authority (NIA) as a Director, a position he was serving in up to his demise.Ndumbi passed on May 13, 2024, at Consalata Mathari Mission Hospital in Nyeri, where he was rushed after he suddenly fell ill.Source: Kenya News Agency
