Post: Government Allocates Sh1.1 Billion for Tarmacking Emali-Ukia Road Section

Emali: The National Government has committed Sh1.1 billion to tarmac a section of the Emali-Ukia Road, announced Kibwezi West Member of Parliament (MP) Mwengi Mutuse. This significant infrastructure project aims to enhance connectivity in the region.

According to Kenya News Agency, the government has awarded the contract to Prime Quantifier Limited to undertake the first phase of the project, which covers a distance of 20 kilometers. MP Mutuse emphasized the road's historic significance, noting its potential to link Makueni with neighboring counties such as Kajiado, Machakos, and Kitui, as well as extending connectivity to Tanzania. This development is expected to benefit local business people and facilitate the transportation of agricultural produce to various markets.

Mutuse assured that the contract has been awarded to Prime Quantifier Limited, with the tarmacking set to reach Matiliku town in the initial phase. Addressing the media at Ndundune market during the site's handover, he committed to completing the road within two years, emphasizing that no political agendas would hinder its progress. As a member of the Budget Committee, Mutuse expressed confidence that sufficient funds have been allocated for the project's completion.

The road's completion is anticipated to boost transport within the lower eastern region, particularly for business operations involving the distribution of fruits to major towns across the country. While the contractor has been brought on-site, President William Ruto is expected to officially launch the road soon.

National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung'wah, speaking at the event, stated that residents of the Kinyoo Settlement Scheme in Nzaui Subcounty would receive title deeds during the President's visit. He praised the government's infrastructure improvements in the lower eastern region, highlighting the benefits for farmers, business people, and residents in terms of travel and access to essential services.

Other notable speakers at the gathering included Members of Parliament Fabian Kyule Muli (Kangundo), Caleb Mule (Machakos), Hillary Kosgei (Kipkelion), and Kajiado Woman Representative Lea Sankaire.
