Post: Governor Barasa Leads Mashujaa Day Celebrations in Kakamega

Kakamega: Governor Fernandes Barasa has led county residents in marking this year's Mashujaa Day celebrations held in Matungu Sub County, where hundreds turned up to honor Kenya's national heroes and heroines.

According to Kenya News Agency, in his address, Barasa paid tribute to the late ODM leader Raila Amolo Odinga, describing him as a patriot whose passing has united the nation in grief and reflection. 'Raila's lifelong commitment to peace, democracy, and justice continues to inspire generations. His spirit will forever remain a guiding light for our country,' he said.

The governor urged Kenyans to shun divisive politics, warning that tribalism and hate speech have no place in a progressive and united nation. 'Let us carry forward the values our heroes stood for including unity, integrity, and service to others,' he said.

Barasa stated that leaders should focus on service delivery, emphasizing that ODM will remain in government to foster sustainable development across the political divide. The governor further assured ODM supporters that the party remains strong and intact, despite the loss of their leader, noting that Raila's ideals will continue to shape the party's vision and future.

The celebrations brought together leaders, county officials, and residents, who paid homage to the country's heroes while reflecting on the strides made in nation-building since independence.
