Post: Governor Ottichilo’s Condolence for Raila Amolo Odinga

Nairobi: Vihiga County Governor, Drs Wilber Khasilwa Ottichilo, has sent a message of condolences to the family of the late former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga, describing his death as a monumental loss to the nation.

According to Kenya News Agency, Dr. Ottichilo said the late Raila Odinga was a true patriot, reformist, and statesman whose selfless service and resilience helped shape Kenya's democracy and governance. The Governor underscored that Raila Odinga was more than a political figure but rather was a symbol of courage, resilience, and hope for millions of Kenyans.

He asserted that Raila's unwavering commitment to justice, equality, and democracy will remain a guiding light for generations to come. 'Raila was never afraid to speak the truth to power that be. He dedicated his life to fighting for multi-party democracy, human rights, and good governance. Through his leadership, he inspired countless Kenyans to believe in the power of their voice and to work tirelessly for a better and more equitable society,' he said.

His role in shaping and delivering the 2010 Constitution of Kenya cemented his legacy as a reformer and defender of inclusivity. Many rightly refer to him as the father of the 2010 Constitution and a champion of devolution - principles that continue to empower counties and strengthen local governance,' Ottichilo added.

'On my own behalf, my family's, and the people of Vihiga County, I extend heartfelt condolences to Mama Ida Odinga, the Odinga family, the ODM fraternity, and all Kenyans who are mourning this great loss. His passing is not only a loss to his family but to the entire nation and continent.'

He added, 'As we come to terms with this immense loss, let us take comfort in the indelible legacy Raila leaves behind. May we honour his memory by upholding the values he lived for - unity, justice, and democracy.'
