Post: Governors Cancel Climate Summit to Honor Raila Odinga

Kakamega: The inaugural Lake Region Economic Bloc (LREB) Climate Change and Agri-Expo Summit 2025 in Kakamega has been canceled following the death of former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga. The three-day event, which commenced on Tuesday at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST), was halted to honor the late statesman.

According to Kenya News Agency, the cancellation was announced by the LREB Governors, aligning with President William Ruto's directive to suspend all official public engagements during the national mourning period. The governors expressed their decision in a joint statement, highlighting the importance of honoring Odinga's contributions to the nation.

Those present at the event included Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa, Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka, and Vihiga Governor Dr. Wilber Ottichilo, all of whom pledged their support in mourning the loss of Raila Odinga.
