Ouagadougou: Traders in the commune of Houndé organized a reforestation day on Saturday, August 3, 2024, in the said locality. Chaired by the High Commissioner of the province of Tuy, Issiaka Segda, this activity is part of the delayed commemoration of the national tree day.Houndé traders commemorated the National Tree Day on Saturday, August 3, 2024, through a reforestation operation called "one trader, one tree." For this operation, the central market of Houndé was chosen as the reforestation site. According to the organizers, this choice aims to generate popular enthusiasm for the regreening of the municipality.According to the consular representative of the Tuy province, Abdoul-Aziz Sawadogo, the initiative for this reforestation came from the Head of State's call inviting everyone to plant trees. 'State structures and many other organizations are making a lot of efforts in the field of reforestation, which is why we are also committed to planting trees,' he explained. According to him, during this op eration, the planting of around a hundred trees of various species is planned. Regarding the monitoring and maintenance of trees, he confided that an agreement was signed with a nurseryman for two years. The head of the Tuy traders also suggested that this reforestation will not be limited to Houndé and could, next year, be held in another municipality in the province.For the representative of the president of the consular delegation of Hauts-Bassins, sponsor of the ceremony, Ollo Poda, this reforestation day is a symbol. According to him, this reforestation is of great significance for the business world because of the many virtues of the tree.The High Commissioner of the Tuy province, Issiaka Segda, said he was happy to preside over this reforestation ceremony. According to him, this activity is in line with the vision of the Head of State. The market being a community space, deciding to plant trees there is giving life to the entire community, according to Issiaka Segda. He congratulated the consular r epresentative of Tuy, who initiated this reforestation, for his commitment to the development of the province.
