Post: Kajiado East MP Allocates Sh26 Million in Educational Bursaries

Kajiado: Kajiado East Member of Parliament, Kakuta Maimai, has disbursed bursaries worth Sh26 Million. Speaking during the disbursement at Kitengela, the MP emphasized that education is the greatest equalizer and committed to ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder any child's educational opportunities.

According to Kenya News Agency, the bursary funds have been distributed across all five wards in the constituency. Secondary school beneficiaries received Sh1.8 million, colleges were allocated Sh450,000, and tertiary institutions obtained Sh750,000. Maimai urged parents to refrain from purchasing bursary application forms, which are distributed free of charge, and warned that anyone attempting to sell the forms would face legal consequences.

The MP also called on the Ministry of Education to send school capitation promptly to avoid disruptions in students' studies. He noted that delays in capitation are unfortunate and often only cover a limited number of students, especially as the school calendar nears its end.

Miriam Syombua, a parent of one of the beneficiaries, expressed her gratitude for the bursaries, noting that they would alleviate the burden of school fees. Jotham Oparanya, representing the Kitengela Boda Boda association, also expressed appreciation and urged the MP to increase the allocation to accommodate the rising costs of living.
