Post: KEBS Applauded for Shaping Quality Learning

Eldoret: Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) has been commended for extending its mandate to the education sector through the ISO 21001:2025 framework, hailed as a transformative step towards quality learning. Speaking in Eldoret during the opening of the ISO 21001 Education Workshop, Uasin Gishu County Deputy Governor Evans Kapkea said KEBS has consistently set benchmarks that protect consumers and guide industries, and its focus on education now signals a bold commitment to shaping the nation's future.

According to Kenya News Agency, 'Education is the ladder that allows our young people to rise to greater opportunities. When the foundation is strong, our future is secure, and that is why standards are so important,' Kapkea said, adding that adopting ISO 21001 would ensure quality and consistency across all learning institutions.

He noted that Uasin Gishu County's priority remains strengthening Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) centres and Vocational Training Colleges, which he described as the foundation and bridge of learning.

He emphasised that aligning these institutions to international standards under ISO 21001 would equip learners with practical skills while assuring parents and employers of quality outcomes.

Kapkea reaffirmed the county's partnership with KEBS and other stakeholders towards ensuring that no child is left behind, stating that education and skills development are at the core of the Nguzo Kumi agenda and the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda.

The Eldoret workshop, organised by KEBS, brought together education stakeholders to deliberate on implementing ISO 2100 as a tool for building an education system that is globally competitive, nationally relevant and locally transformative.

The ceremony was also graced by the KEBS National Quality Institute team, led by the Head of National Quality Institute Charles Maru and KEBS North Rift Manager Vincent Cheruiyot.
