Post: Kongoussi: Faith-based association offers dignity kits to internally displaced women

Ouagadougou: A faith-based association in the diocese of Ouahigouya, called Wend-Bénédo (God is our guide) and led by Sister Suzanne Ouédraogo, offered 100 dignity kits on July 30, 2024 to displaced women internal residents living in the commune of Kongoussi. Each kit includes, among other things, 2 barrels with lids, a bucket, 2 kettles, a travel bag, 3 loincloths, 10 balls of soap, a mosquito net, 2 pairs of shoes. There are also 2 toothbrushes, toothpaste, ointment, a dozen pairs of underwear, etc., worth more than 50,000 FCFA.According to the coordinator of the association, Sister Suzanne Ouédraogo, this assistance to internally displaced women from Kongoussi was able to materialize with the support of the association SOLIDARITÉ ENTREMONTS ET PEUPLES, which was kind enough to make financial resources available to Wend- Benedo.'We were very sensitive when we saw certain women who lack the minimum for their dignity. This is why we approached the association SOLIDARITÉ ENTREMONTS ET PEUPLES which agre ed to support us to relieve the women. It's symbolic, but we think this donation can help them temporarily,' she said. The provincial director in charge of Bam Humanitarian Action, Zoénabou Ouédraogo, congratulated Wend-Bénédo for this gesture which, according to her, is more than symbolic.'We often see dignity kits handed out to women. But such kits I have never seen. These are very substantial kits and we thank you, as well as your partner EntreMonde, for this great gesture of solidarity,' noted the provincial director before inviting the beneficiaries to make good use of the donation. The representative of the beneficiaries, Zara Sawadogo, also thanked the association and its coordinator for the support. She reassured donors that the material received will be well used.As a reminder, the Wend-Bénédo association was created in 2004. It primarily intervenes in the care of orphans and vulnerable children. As of July 30, 2024, 52 orphans affected by terrorism are cared for by the structure.Source: Bur kina Information Agency
