Post: Malindi MP Calls for Unified Government Efforts to Accelerate Development

Malindi: Malindi Member of Parliament (MP) Amina Laura Mnyazi has emphasised the need for a coordinated, all-government approach to fast-track development across the country. Mnyazi noted that closer collaboration between the legislature and executive arms at both national and county levels was critical towards delivering meaningful progress for the constituents.

According to Kenya News Agency, the MP was speaking at Takaye Comprehensive School in Malindi Town, where she officially commissioned five newly built classrooms and a toilet block. Two of the classrooms were constructed using funding from the National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF), while the remaining three have been built by the Ministry of Education through the Kenya Primary Education Equity in Learning (KPEEL) programme.

Mnyazi stated that nearly 70 per cent of schools in Malindi constituency have benefited from new classrooms and equipment, made possible through joint efforts with the Ministry of Education. 'We have agreed with the Sub County Director of Education that wherever the Ministry constructs classrooms, NG-CDF will complement the effort so that learners can study in a decent shelter,' she said, noting that NG-CDF-funded classrooms are always furnished with new lockers and chairs.

Beyond education, the MP mentioned successful lobbying for additional development projects in the constituency including rural electrification, road upgrades, and blue economy initiatives. Mnyazi highlighted the ongoing construction of a Huduma Centre at the Malindi Deputy County Commissioner's office, while also noting plans for a Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) campus on a ten-acre plot donated by Malindi High School.

The MP had also engaged the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development to put up affordable housing units on another ten-acre piece of land at the Malindi High School, alongside markets in various locations throughout the constituency. 'In the remaining two years of my term, I intend to focus strictly on development and stay clear of divisive local politics, so that my people can fully benefit from my leadership,' she declared.

At the same event, the Malindi Sub County Director of Education Rashid Roba Adan and the local Assistant County Commissioner Irene Munyoki called on parents to take their parental responsibilities seriously by investing in their children's education while also instilling discipline.
