Abidjan: Orange Money Group and JUMO have joined forces to expand financial inclusion in Africa, with a focus on providing microcredit services to unbanked populations.
According to African Press Organization, this partnership aims to leverage JUMO's expertise in data analytics and AI to create a secure and efficient platform for mobile credit requests and low-risk repayments.
Orange Money Group, a leader in mobile financial services, and JUMO, a banking-as-a-service fintech provider, are set to enhance digital financial services across Africa. This strategic alliance is geared towards rolling out a diverse range of credit products in multiple markets, particularly targeting Francophone Africa. Customers of Orange Money Group will be able to request credit securely through their mobile devices, bypassing the need for a traditional bank account or collateral.
JUMO has developed a variety of short-term and installment loan products tailored for consumers, merchants, and distributors with limited access to these services. By employing AI algorithms, JUMO assesses credit risk and facilitates immediate capital flow through partnerships with pan-African banks and development finance institutions.
The collaboration will enable Orange Money Group to introduce app-based and USSD lending services across Africa, with initial launches planned in Burkina Faso, followed by Mali and Botswana. This multi-country, multi-product, and multi-funding approach will significantly broaden the reach of microcredit services on the continent.
A streamlined user experience is at the heart of this partnership, combining financial inclusion with cutting-edge technology. The process involves users accessing the service through their Orange Money Group wallet, requesting a credit amount, and having their eligibility evaluated by JUMO's AI technology. Upon validation, the credit amount is instantly credited to the user's wallet, with repayment occurring automatically as per agreed terms.
Aminata Kane, CEO of Orange Money Group, expressed the company's commitment to supporting customers in their personal projects and daily emergencies through accessible small loan offers. The partnership with JUMO is expected to accelerate the rollout of these services across various countries, combining Orange Money Group's expertise with JUMO's technology for faster, more transparent, and tailored financial solutions.
Andrew Watkins-Ball, CEO and founder of JUMO, highlighted the excitement of partnering with Orange to connect customers with products from leading banks on their platform. The collaboration aims to provide customers with a range of financial choices while enabling bank partners to expand into new markets.
