President Saied inspects train station in Djebel Jloud [Upd 1]

President Kais Saied went to Habib Bourguiba avenue on Wednesday evening then took a walk to Djebel Jloud district where he inspected the train station and railways. The President voiced disatisfaction with the situation of the water fountain in Habib Bourguiba avenue and criticised failure to ensure its maintenance. Funds had been earmarked for local communities, he said. Yet, the latter had fallen short of discharging their mission over the recent years. Funding was made available for the municipality of Bardo for instance but the current urban planning has nothing to do with its history, Saied highlighted. It should have been in harmony with Bardo's history and architecture. Railways in Djebel Jloud are in "a poor condition" and "neglected" as they had been badly maintained. Rail vehicles lack stability presently as a result of inadequate maintenance of railways, the Head of State said. The President was also critical of yesterday's "fierce opponents of ruling parties who now enter into alliances with them ." "Today, they are forming an alliance with them and standing in full solidarity with them in a hunger strike," the President said in reference to a hunger strike by a number of political activists in solidarity with those arrested as part of the case of conspircy against State security.
