The Government of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has announced financial support of $70 million to Minière de Bakwanga (MIBA) to revitalize this company, once a pioneer in the diamond sector. The Minister of Finance, Doudou Fwamba Likunde, revealed this information on December 28, 2024 via his X account.

The recovery plan aims to certify mining reserves, which is crucial to attract international investors and strengthen MIBA’s credibility on the global market. By modernizing its equipment and securing its mining perimeter, the company will be able to increase its productivity and profitability.

In addition, the completion of the Lubilanji hydroelectric plant will ensure a stable energy supply, reducing costs and strengthening MIBA’s competitiveness. This project is part of the government’s strategy to turn around public enterprises, with the hope of reviving the Congolese economy.
