Republic Day, opportunity to reaffirm national unity and preserve cohesion (Bouderbala)

Speaker of the Assembly of People's Representatives (ARP) Brahim Bouderbala underlined in a statement on Monday evening, in commemoration of the 66th anniversary of the Republic Day, that "the date of the proclamation of the Republic remains anchored in the minds of all Tunisians, because of its meanings and symbols that enshrine the sovereignty, freedom and dignity of the people."

The Republic Day is an occasion to commemorate all the Tunisian militants and martyrs who sacrificed themselves for independence in order to enshrine the values of freedom and democracy.

"It is also an opportunity to pay tribute to all those who worked with sincerity, dedication and loyalty so that the Tunisian people could live a decently," he added.

He affirmed that the Parliament fully assumes its legislative role, as part of a process of continuous construction, and works with firm determination to preserve the principles of the Republic and its foundations, and to represent the sovereign people, in compliance with the principles established by the new Tunisian Constitution, approved by the people in the July 25, 2022 referendum.

Bouderbala pointed out that the Republic Day is an opportunity to consolidate attachment to the values of the Republic enshrined in the new Tunisian Constitution, and to reaffirm national unity and preserve the cohesion that "remains the only way out of the difficult social and economic situation and to address the various challenges that the country has to deal with."
