Post: Sh14M Naisoya-Ololoito Bridge Brings Relief to Residents

Nairobi: Residents of Naisoya and Ololoito villages in Narok North Sub County: are a happy lot following the construction of the Sh14 million mega bridge that connects the two villages. The residents who spoke today during the commissioning of the bridge by the area Member of Parliament, Agnes Pareiyo, said the bridge is a great milestone for the residents, who had to use alternative and longer routes to get to major towns.

According to Kenya News Agency, Donald Osoito recalled how women could sleep in neighbors' homes on the other side of the road during rainy seasons, as the area was completely impassable. 'No vehicle would access the road, especially during rainy seasons. We could not move our goods to the market because of the impassable road, but with the construction of the bridge, we will be able to access critical facilities like the market, hospital, and schools with ease,' he reiterated.

Another resident, John Sankok, praised the Kenya Kwanza government for delivering quality services to residents as promised during the campaign season. 'We have seen many leaders come and go, but the current leaders have done us proud. Now the common mwananchi in the village can easily transport their goods to the market without the need for middlemen who exploit them,' underscored Sankok.

Speaking while commissioning the bridge today, Ms. Pareiyo said she had prioritized the construction of the bridge after a public outcry and the fact that the two villages are rich agricultural zones. Ms. Pareiyo observed the challenges the residents have been facing to connect to the two villages, especially during rainy seasons, saying the construction of the bridge is going to be a big relief to the residents. 'The residents of the two villages have been finding it hard to move from one village to another. With the new bridge in place, they will be able to transport their produce to the market and boost their economic standards,' repeated Ms. Pareiyo.

The bridge, whose construction commenced in February 2025, was done under the Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA). South Rift Region KeRRA Director Engineer David Kerembu revealed the construction of the bridge was done by Hezdeb Group Limited and had been completed within the stipulated time. Other roadworks being undertaken by KeRRA include the upgrading of Junction-Maji Moto Road, Kimogoro-Melelo road, Kanunga-Osupuko road, Olepolos-Oleshapani road, and Emoomotonyi-Moyongo road.
