Rio de janeiro: The International Confederation of the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul (SSVP) has unveiled its 2024 Annual Report, highlighting its global humanitarian efforts. The report, presented in Rio de Janeiro, reveals that the organization carried out 18,000 social projects and 5,000 special programs, reaching 30 million people across 155 countries with a total social investment of pound 1.65 billion.According to African Press Organization, the event commenced with Marcio Da Silva, President of the National Council of Brazil, welcoming attendees and showcasing a video detailing SSVP's work in Brazil. Wellington Dias, Brazil's Minister for Development and Social Assistance, emphasized the significance of education and opportunities in addressing hunger and poverty. He extended gratitude on behalf of Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva to the SSVP for its vital contributions.Juan Manuel Buergo Gómez, International President General of SSVP, elaborated on the human touch central to the Soc iety's mission, beyond the economic and social metrics. He announced the launch of the Global SSVP Foundation, aimed at raising funds for collaboration on development aid and emergency actions. In Brazil, Solidarity Mobile Hygiene Units offer essential services to the homeless, while in Peru, community activities complement food distribution efforts. In Sri Lanka, the construction of hygiene facilities improves living conditions, and in Benin, floating schools ensure continuous education.
