"Tunisia stands firm on its sovereignty and will not give in to pressure because state sovereignty takes precedence over all considerations," said President Kais Saied as he addressed the country's relations with its regional and international environment during a meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad at the Carthage Palace on Thursday. "Our country will deal with its partners only on an equal footing within a framework of mutual respect," the head of state was quoted as saying in a presidency statement. On the other hand, the meeting focused on the need to speed up the diplomatic and consular reshuffle as soon as possible. Emphasis was placed on the need for embassies and consulates to fully assume their responsibilities in order to represent Tunisia at the highest level, defend its interests and provide the best services to citizens abroad, according to the same statement.
