Tuy: The Provincial Epidemic Management Committee (CPGE) of Tuy convened its first ordinary session of the year, under the leadership of High Commissioner Issiaka Segda, to address the province's epidemiological situation.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the session focused on the report covering the period from week 1 to week 26, highlighting the prevalence of diseases with epidemic potential. These diseases include measles, meningitis, dengue fever, malaria, and chikungunya. Additionally, three unusual health events were recorded during this period: a traffic accident resulting in four deaths and 17 injuries, a landslide at a gold mining site causing three deaths, and cases of congenital malformations.
Wendpoure Ouedraogo, head of the Centre for Health Information and Epidemiological Surveillance (CISSE), reported that several actions have been taken to enhance surveillance. These actions include case management, strengthening vector control, organizing health days, monitoring notifications and investigations, sampling, and supervising those responsible for surveillance.
Chief Medical Officer Youssouf Ouedraogo of the Hounde district noted that epidemiological surveillance is progressing well in Tuy province. "Most diseases with epidemic potential have been reported, and we have also identified unusual events. This shows that surveillance is effective at the district level," he stated. Despite the progress, he acknowledged that challenges remain in achieving excellence.
The MCD expressed gratitude to the district staff for their dedication and to the local population for their support. High Commissioner Issiaka Segda commended the efforts of the management team and health workers, encouraging them to continue improving the province's health indicators.
