Yaoundé, Cameroon (CNA)- In a significant step towards ending the AIDS epidemic in Cameroon, the United States and Cameroon governments have launched the Cameroon Population-based HIV Impact Assessment (CAMPHIA) 2024. The initiative, funded by the U.S. President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) with an investment of over 11.5 billion FCFA, aims to comprehensively evaluate the effectiveness of Cameroon's HIV response strategies.By collecting and analyzing data on HIV prevalence, incidence, and viral suppression rates, CAMPHIA 2024 will provide invaluable insights into the country's progress in combating the disease. This information will be instrumental in guiding public health officials in tailoring interventions and allocating resources to areas with the greatest need.Ambassador Lamora emphasized the importance of data-driven approaches in achieving the ambitious goal of ending AIDS as a public health threat by 2030. The Embassy revealed that CAMPHIA 2024 will provide the gold standard data we n eed to assess our interventions and make informed decisions.The collaboration between the U.S. and Cameroon underscores the commitment of both nations to addressing the global HIV epidemic.
