Post: CS Mvurya Calls for Religious Harmony to Promote Development

Kwale: Cabinet Secretary (CS) for Youth, Creative Economy and Sports Salim Mvurya says the national government is committed to promoting religious harmony and national unity. Mvurya emphasizes the importance of collaboration between the government and religious institutions, including mosques and churches, in shaping societal values and mentoring both current and future generations.

According to Kenya News Agency, Mvurya highlighted the government’s dedication to creating an inclusive environment with opportunities for all citizens, regardless of their religious, political, or ethnic backgrounds. He stressed the vital role of places of worship in addressing socio-economic and moral challenges facing the country. Mvurya urged religious leaders to remain committed to promoting interfaith harmony, denouncing violence, and fostering reconciliation among the diverse communities.

During his visit to Ramisi Ward in the Msambweni sub-county of Kwale, where he led a fundraising event for the local Jamia mosque, Mvurya was accompanied by Kwale Deputy Governor Chirema Kombo and Msambweni MP Feisal Bader. The event gathered religious and political leaders, women and youth groups, and members of the Muslim community. Mvurya underscored the importance of religious education in shaping the character and development of children, commending religious teachers and parents for their guidance in nurturing moral values.

Mvurya called on the Muslim community to strengthen peace, tolerance, and religious harmony to accelerate socio-economic progress. He urged religious leaders to reclaim their roles as society’s ‘moral compass’ to protect the country’s well-being and values. Furthermore, he encouraged parents to actively instill core values in their children, helping them become responsible members of society.

Kwale Deputy Governor Kombo praised the region as a beacon of religious tolerance and urged residents to uphold these values to promote development. Kombo emphasized the crucial role parents play in fostering a harmonious and moral society by prioritizing the upbringing of their children.

Msambweni MP Bader echoed these sentiments, advising parents to fulfill their responsibilities in raising their children well for the benefit of society and the country. He called on Muslims to continue living by Islamic principles of justice, kindness, honesty, and patience.
