Lodwar: Lodwar County Referral Hospital (LCRH) has inaugurated a new hospital management board to enhance efficiency in the delivery of quality healthcare services. The eight-member board is tasked with providing oversight by monitoring performance, with a focus on governance, accountability, and addressing community health needs.
According to Kenya News Agency, speaking at the inauguration ceremony, County Executive Committee Member for Health and Sanitation, Dr. Joseph Epem, urged the board and the hospital administration to deliver accessible, quality healthcare to all county residents. "I want to implore the board to adopt cost-effective solutions to avoid overspending and ensure that operations run smoothly," he said. He also stressed that one of the board's responsibilities is to ensure the health needs of the community are met.
Chief Officer for Medical Services, Dr. Ezekiel Etelej, encouraged the board to foster a culture of transparency and accountability. He added that it would ensure ethical and responsible operations, leading to sustainable health outcomes for the community.
Deputy Director for Partnerships and Administration and Acting Director for LCRH, Nancy Kinyonge, noted that better coordination between the hospital administration and the board would result in improved service delivery.
The new board chair, Mohamud Ali Mohamed, emphasized that meeting the community's expectations for quality services relied on having supported and motivated healthcare workers. Other board members appointed include Stephen Eyanae, Rev. James Louren, Sarah Kaatho, Charles Eris, Jacinta Epeyon, Menen Kudede, and Carolyne Ekadeli.
The ceremony was also attended by members of the Senior Health Management Team, the County Health Management Team, and senior officers from LCRH.
